» Group project at 10. No one else in group helping?
My daughter is doing a "group" project in 5th grade. She has been trying over the last two weeks to get the other members of her group to help her. She is getting very frustrated that no one is doing any work but her. One girl's excuse is that she lives on a farm and has too many chores to help, the other doesn't really have an excuse. I have been trying to let her deal with it herself but now she is trying to do everything so that she does not fail the project and she is stressing out way too much over it. We have approached the teacher and was told that this issomething my daughter will just have to work out on her own, that every year the teacher gets complaints like this and that is the nature of a group project. Wha...... - 2009-07-04

» Showing full real name (profile field) in memberinfo
Pre 3.7 upgrade we changed many of our templates around to show a profile field (users full real name) rather than (or in addition too) their forumid. For example, on our legacy postbit we can do a $post[field7] and it will show the full name. This still works. However, in MEMBERINFO if I add $post[field7] near the prepared[musername] $prepared[onlinestatus] parts it does not show anything. is there another way to do this? We want to show our real full names wherever possible as we are a club based on names, not forumids. Thanks. You couldn't have used $post in the memberinfo template, you need to use $userinfo[field7]i had the same problem. he was talking about the postbit template. $post still works there, but memberinfo ...... - 2009-07-04
» Looking for an author to an image
I'm looking for a web address, or a person, who authored a certain photograph. Unfortunately, his/her photo no longer appears on the image search. I believe I first found the image in Feb 2004 using the keywords "salt flats". Is there anyway for you to locate the website or contact info of the author if I send you the image? I need to get their permission to use it for a creative piece that will be used for commercial purposes. You can go to the Corbis website http://pro.corbis.com/ and add the search term "salt flats" -- perhaps you will see the image you arte interested in and the website will provide you with all the info. you need about artist and permission and royalties, etc....... - 2009-07-04

Hey guys! Today I received my Canonet QL25, and it seems to be in a quite good condition! Only, the shutter speed ring doesn't really seems to be running as smooth as I think it should, and I was wondering if any of you knows anything I could do about that? And lastly, the superimposed rangefinder square isn't really bright. Maybe the rangefinder windows need cleaning, or is it just not that bright to begin with..? Many thanks for any help you can provide! Cheers, NielsAnyone?you should post this in the Collector's Corner, Mitica is the only one around there that may know, try asking him...... - 2009-07-04

» Nikon 70-200 VR soft focus
Hi- I've got a 70-200 f/2.8vr on a D300. In reviewing some photos from a shoot in the rain the other day, I noticed alot of soft focus with the focal point right of center at f/3.2. It does not look like the results you would expect from a $1,800 lens, but then again, maybe my expectations are too high. I ran some tests today, and it looks like with the VR on, while looking through the viewfinder, the image in the viewfinder moves around and actually causes a blur/halo at shutter speeds of 1/13 and slower. When I turn off VR, the movement in the finder and blur in the image goes away. I tried again with VR on and bumped it down to f/10 and it also goes away. Does anyone have any experience with the effects of VR actually cau...... - 2009-07-04
» Use Raw?
I was wondering if its necessary to shoot and work with with raw images. Canon includes software with the camera to manipulate images in raw format. The jpg images look perfect to me, can I just use Photoshop to edit them, or is it a good idea to preserve the quality of the raw image? If the jpg is just fine stick with it. Deppending on what Canon Camera you have. Some have a choice of Raw+JPG when you take a shot. Of course it takes more time and memory space on the card. But you would have you jpg for easy clean up. And RAW if you have a master piece on your hands. :)I always shoot in raw, because I want maximum quality, and I don't shoot for quantity. It's not necessary to shoot with RAW. It is however much more advisable, especially...... - 2009-07-04

physical: i don't mean sex, it's included, just physically being able to connect ie: touching, holding hand etc.... spiritual: i don't mean you have to be religious, just connected to YOUR higher power....... self: of course loving yourself w/all your faults! i believe you have to have them all! how about you, can you live with only one out of the three, which would you choose? why? They all serve their needs. Physical tells you this is real. Spiritual tells you this is infinite. » New shot from tonight
Playing around in Photoshop and this is what I came up with. The ding in the cap was healed, but when I erased the background it came back. I think the cap could stand to be sharpened more, but let me know what you think. I know that the case is cropped out, but to me it seemed to flow better with the image as is. If I left the whole pen case in there was too much black in the lower left corner. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b319/Ragnarok69/doublejewel51editcopy.jpg Cheers, SGlooks pretty nice to me, i probably would have placed the pen differently but still, great shot! Two comments. First, the subject is not sharp. If you are going to have the dent in the cap in focus, you need to have the end of the barrel in focus as well. I...... - 2009-07-04
» Judge Toni Higgenbotham
I am looking for controversial rulings by Judge Toni Higgenbotham in East Baton Rouge ParishThere is a smattering of information available on Judge Higginbotham, including the fact that she received the lowest rating of all family court judges in E Baton Rouge Parish, in a survey of lawyers practicing before the court. Her scores were particularly low in some areas involving "integrity" and "competence". Other records seems to indicate she is well respected by her peers on the bench. As for controversial rulings, although these likely exist, none appeared from a preliminary search. I'm afraid I know of no easy way to sort through a Judge's cases and distinguish the controversial from the routine. If any of these details of t...... - 2009-07-04

No they would not. I watched them both. Intelliegence is expanding your mind. Republicans refuse to listen to much. So dems will watch all the news stations. » I'm moving to Helena, Montana and need answers regarding snow tires.?
Should I get chains or studs on my tires? I have an automatic, 2006 Saturn Vue, V6, FWD. What is the difference in chains or studded tires? What is the price difference? I think you can make it with your transmission. I would just test out a few storms before I made any invenstments in chains and things. first of all chains are a no-no, unless extreme conditions and your not driving far or at speeds no greater than 5 to 10 mph. a studed tire is a tires with metal spikes that are designed to grip the road, but can be dangerous as well and used in extreme conditions also, but speeds can be a bit faster. a really good snow tire would be prefect for a saturn fwd, you wont be driving fast anyway. visit your local tire dealer and im sure ...... - 2009-07-04

» Streaking Graphics
Recently, we moved a client site to dtsinetadvantage as our VDS host provider. Initially we ran into numerous issues with CGI permission errors and modules not loaded. Eventually we solved the issues. Once the new DNS had propagated, however, we began to receive message from users that indicated that as pages were loading they would initially come over streaked vertically. Once the page had completely loaded, all appeard fine. Initially I thought it was just me until hearing from users. So did my business partner. It has become clear that "something" is different. For great-grandchild/ great-uncle/aunt, it is " first cousin once removed--second cousin-- second cousin once removed-- second cousin twice removed " On the chart on this page, the parents represent the common ancestors you have with your relative. » Difference between Telnet and Remote Desktop Connection?
Hi, What is the Difference between Telnet and Remote Desktop Connection ? I understand that both are used to connect to a remote computer. Both required login and password. So what's the difference ? ThanksThey are as different as a telegraph and a Blackberry. Telnet is an unencrypted text-only connection to a remote computer's command shell. SSH or Secure SHell is the encrypted cousin to Telnet and is quickly replacing it for remote command shell access. Telnet/SSH are typically used for UNIX-based systems and devices like routers and sometimes printers. Remote Desktop is an encrypted connection to a Windows machine that allows you to run the full Windows interface remotely. It is literally like being log...... - 2009-07-04

» Jointer VS. Router Table Help
I have a small 1 car garage shop and am trying to economize on space wherever possible. Being a novice woodworker I'm wondering if I can get as good an edge on lumber with a straight bit on a table mounted router as I can with a dedicated jointer. I have a plan for a shaker style table that calls for the boards for the top to be jointed. A Benchdog ProMax cast iron table mounted on the left side of my TS3650 has really piqued my interest. If I follow this route what will I be losing by not getting the dedicated jointer? I know the other benefits of stationary routing will be a big boost to the capabilities of my small humble shop. First I realized that Christianity could not be about denomination and there for about religion. Than I had to ask myself what Christianity really was if it wasn't church structure and doctrine. This, of course, really held me accountable to read the Bible. It confirmed what I thought. Jesus never said, "Follow me and be Baptist, or Pentecostal, or what ever". Then when I was in church the pastor would read a passage from the Bible and then proceed to make statements that somehow had nothing to do with the scripture he read. Often I heard, "Okay we're going to pray. Let's leave all our cares of the previous ...... - 2009-07-04
» Land rights for Neanderthals?
Now that we have both the genetic code and technological means necessary the possiblity of recreating Neanderthals is plausible in the near future, however, if we do this could they legally reclaim their birthrights using the same legal process as native peoples in america and europe and oceania? If not, why not?Dear Dolly! LOL! They don't have to go that far in order to recreate Neanderthals! They are living now, and having a gay old time!!! I have never thought they just died off! They just intermarried with modern man, and sometimes you get a throwback!!! I have had the pleasure of meeting some of them during my lifetime!!! But, just suppose, they do recreate one from dna, he is going to be just like us, cos he won't have...... - 2009-07-04

» NURSING REGISTRY/AGENCY
wHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A NURSING REGISTRY AND A NURSING AGENCY?Hi vicky17, Thank you for your question. The following is an explanation of the basic differences between a nursing agency and a nursing registry. A Registry is a service that locates, recruits, and provides medical staffing (nurses) for hospitals, nursing homes and a wide range of other medical facilities. A Registry may also provide nurses for private duty work situations. Usually a fee is collected from the nurse to register, or from the party where the nurse provides services; however, some "registries" operate like temporary help firms. Operationally, registries function much like Job Shops. Once the Registry finds work for the nurse, the nurse is effectivel...... - 2009-07-04

about 3 weeks ago i had a mile run in gym and i got the time of 13:00 minutes and i want to lower down to 10:00 how would i do that in three days???? please help me!!run faster...?Think about your goal when you are running. Try not to stop and walk at all, if you do need to walk, speed walk, every second counts. eat a banana before you run, it will give you energy, and drink plenty of water all day before the run, but not right before because you will get a cramp. well it is more about asking yourself , do I want it. Don't drink any caffiene for 3 days, no junk food, no hambuger , salad and carbs and lots of water. Get 1 hour extra sleep per night. That is how you do it. 3 days is not enough time to train. » The color of performance
What is the color of "performance" (as in sports/competition/athletics)? I think it's red. Do you agree? Why? And grids: they seem to be a common performance shape. Yes? Or is it intersecticting lines that excite us? Am I on to something? Here are some google starts ... http://webexhibits.org/pigments/indiv/color/reds2.html http://www.infoplease.com/spot/colors1.htmlHi sailguy, You're indeed right when you suggest that intersecting lines excite us. According to Sir Richard L. » Compensation for Defense Attorneys for High-Profile Criminal Cases
When seeing the news coverage for the Laci Petersen case, I've been struck by the amount of high-priced firepower the defense has at its disposal (e.g., independent foresnsics specialists, advisors, et al). Aside from publicity associated with the case, what compensation do these individuals receive -- how can a Scott Petersen afford such a defense?Dear prpro-ga; Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting question. Death penalty cases can cost hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars to defend therefore almost everyone (and Mr. Peterson is no different) charged with capital crimes is declared by the state to be indigent and is represented by an assigned public defender or a court-appo...... - 2009-07-04
» Time for spring to stop the mass?
How to find time for a spring to stop a mass if given mass, speed, force constant, and distance traveled by the mass after contact with the spring? Mass: 3.11 kg V: 1.25 m/s Force Constant: 47.3 N/m Mass traveled: .101 m I guess this is a continuation of the other question. Here's what I posted on the original: To get the time, unless you already have a packaged formula, I think you need to use calculus. . . For a spring, F = m*a = m*x'' = -k*x, where m is the mass of the mass (block?) a = x'' = the acceleration of the block k is the spring constant x is the amount of compression. You would need to integrate this to get the time. Let me see if I remember how . . . x'' = -k/m*x ...... - 2009-07-04

» Carlos Tevez vs. Wayne Rooney
I think the old thread got locked but the Man. United vs. West Ham game today seemed to sum up the conclusions most people had from that thread, mainly that Tevez is the more clinical finisher while Rooney is the superior athlete (exemplified by his nonstop workrate and how quickly he chased Tevez down to stop a west ham counterattack). Ultimately, it's pointless to say which is the better player as it really depends on what style of play one prefers (Rooney is the favorite if it's the rougher EPL style while Tevez would feature better than him in the more technical styles of play seen in Serie A and La Liga). But both are quality young stars who play with the hunger of true champions. KkDyZTr3zywOh god not this again ....... - 2009-07-04

Hello everybody, I have had a big site for more than a year now. I've been using phpBB for my forums, but I think it's time for a change. I've liked vBulletin a lot in other forums and I'm interested in giving my website much nicer forums. Before doing that, I do have a few questions: In the owned license, how much time do I have for free upgrades? In the future, how much will it cost to upgrade to a newer version of vBulleting? I've also noted that vBulleting 3.0.7 has been release, big changes since the newest version I saw yet was 3.0.4, last year. Gotta love the new "increase size" button on the writing box.you get 1 year of free upgrades then it costs the same as buying to upgrade after thatcosts the same as buying to upgrade...... - 2009-07-04
» Manga and dialects (non-standard Japanese)
I noticed long time ago that Japanese in mangas doesn't seem to follow standard Japanese, which makes them harder for foreigners to understand. This was confirmed by some Wikipedia articles. Luckily, the article said it was one particular dialect - Kansai-ben (which may include some other subdialects). Since Kansai-ben is the most widely known nonstandard dialect of Japanese, it has become a favorite with Japanese authors, manga and anime artists, and the like, as the choice for representing a somewhat "different" character from the norm. The use of Kansai-ben is closely associated with manzai and comedy in general throughout most of non-Kansai Japan. This is due both to the prevalence of comedians from Osaka in Japanese media as compared...... - 2009-07-04
» Massachusetts District Attorney Crossley: reason for resignation in 1944?
In 1944, William C. Crossley resigned as District Attorney in the Southeastern Massachusetts district. The New Bedford Standard-Times said in a recent story that he resigned "in disgrace." What had Crossley done wrong? Why did he have to resign?Have you already tried contacting the author of the column that mentioned Crossley's resignation? If you have not, I would be happy to do so on your behalf, as well as to contact others in the area who might have information about this episode.Heard about the Standard-Times story second-hand, and could not find it on the web; apparently Crossley is mentioned once, cryptically.

I was wondering if its necessary to shoot and work with with raw images. Canon includes software with the camera to manipulate images in raw format. Deppending on what Canon Camera you have. Some have a choice of Raw+JPG when you take a shot. Of course it takes more time and memory space on the card. But you would have you jpg for easy clean up. Hi, What is the Difference between Telnet and Remote Desktop Connection ? I understand that both are used to connect to a remote computer. Both required login and password. So what's the difference ? SSH or Secure SHell is the encrypted cousin to Telnet and is quickly replacing it for remote command shell access. Telnet/SSH are typically used for UNIX-based systems and devices like routers and sometimes printers. anyone have any experience with the canon 10-22mm lens? what are your opinions of it? how does it compare to the sigma 12mm or other comparable canon lenses? also, i'm really looking for a wide angle prime.. like a 10mm prime ever seen one around? cannon 10-22mm lens (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=351542&is=USA)Sounds like a nice lens. I don't have any experience with it, but online reviews make it sound good. Just make sure you're putting it on a digital body, since the EF-S series of lenses don't work on 35mm cameras.Hi Motor I recently bought the Canon 10-22mm EF-S lens but as yet haven't used it seriously. Thanks!it will output in HD, but it has alot of trouble with HD videos. see this for more details. http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index.php?title=Supported_File_FormatsOk, so if i get that chart@Supported video formats and resolutions right, 720p is doable for the xbox for divx's and xvids (the ones which matter), right? That'd be worth the 15 bucks :)just being able to output in HD is worth the 15 bucks. 720p looks a hell of a lot better than standard NTSC or PAL. you'd be amazed how good the original xbox...... - 2009-07-04

I hear about socor moms everyday. Is this a mythor what? (No, that was not the question). I suppose they really exist, but I cannot imagine they are all that numerous to be so often cited in many areas of public debate. What are the (reliable) estimates of mom's who drive SUVs who actually use the SUV for socor and other children-style outdoor recreational activities? That is, of the X number (20 million; wild guess) of SUVs on the road, how many are owned by the socor moms who do socor and other outdorsy stuff with kids?Acckk... Thanks in advance for any help.export as .swf and probably .html . exporting as .html also will embed the flash file (.swf) into a html document so you can just link to the html document. I dint really like their html way, so I usually drop it into a table or something to get it centered and constrained. to embed a flash movie paste this into your html code: Try just draging it in too :) (assuming ur using frontpage or dereamweaver)ok, cool. thanks //EDIT: You know what I did?
I have to move fast while some windfall monies are still available. Any suggestions, ideas, tips will be greatl...... - 2009-07-04

» Strangers and pilgrims on the earth, were did the journey start with you?
The journey started when I was 10. But it didn't get exciting until I got older and it slowly snowballed.

If you have not, I would be happy to do so on your behalf, as well as to contact others in the area who might have information about this episode.Heard about the Standard-Times story second-hand, and could not find it on the web; apparently Crossley is mentioned once, cryptically.
